Dog fouling and waste bins
It is every dog owner's responsibility to clean up after their dog. If left in public areas it is a potential health risk. It is no defence to claim ignorance of the dog's actions.
It is an offence for any person in charge of a dog to allow it to foul in a public place and not clean it up (The Dog (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 and The Clean Neighbourhood Environment Act 2005).
Dog waste bins
To assist dog owners, we have installed 160 dog waste bins across the borough. The bins are gradually being replaced with new, fire proof and vandal-resistant bins which are emptied on a weekly basis. Please report issues with dog waste bins by filling in our online dog bin report form or contacting us. Bags for the collection of dog waste can be purchased from most supermarkets or pet shops.
