has been developed to reward businesses who make it easier for customers to make healthy choices when eating out.

Originally developed in Surrey, the Eat Out Eat Well award is now operational across eight counties in southern England.  We are pleased to announce our involvement, with Welwyn Hatfield being the first council in Hertfordshire to join the scheme.

The scheme focuses on keeping fat, sugar and salt to a minimum while increasing fruit, vegetables, and starchy carbohydrates.  It also recognises provision of healthy options for children, and rewards staff training and promotion and marketing of healthier options.

To be eligible to take part, food businesses must be compliant with food hygiene and food standards legislation: a minimum food hygiene rating of '3' is required.

Participation in the scheme is free for businesses: for more information or to take part please contact the Public Health and Protection team (details below).

To compliment this scheme and enable businesses to achieve the highest award we will also be offering a one day training course for a Level 2 Certificate in Nutrition and Health.  Please enquire for more information.
