Housing and Homelessness Strategy 2013-18

This document outlines the key national and local housing policies and demographics, explores the impact this has had on housing need and the challenges which arise from this. It then shows what our strategic approach is to these challenges, setting out an action plan to show when we will address them and what the outcomes will be.

We have identified five key priorities for the council and our partners to address. In no particularly order, they are:

  • the supply of affordable housing,
  • raising standards in the private sector (particularly in Houses in Multiple Occupation),
  • making best use of housing in the borough,
  • preventing homelessness, and
  • meeting the needs of older people and other vulnerable groups
