Housing and Homelessness Strategy 2013-18

This strategy sets out the key issues, challenges and priorities relating to the delivery of housing and housing related services. It identifies our five key priority areas to address the challenges, which include: the supply of affordable housing, raising standards in the private sector, making best use of housing in the borough, preventing homelessness and meeting the housing needs of older people and other vulnerable groups in the borough.

Tenancy Strategy 2013

The Tenancy Strategy sets out a range of issues that Registered Housing Providers should have regard to when formulating their Tenancy Policies and reflects the council's position that flexible tenancies are the most appropriate for making best use of housing stock.

Tenancy Policy 2013

This policy specifies how flexible tenancies (provided for by the localism Act 2011) will be used by the Council; particularly how they will be granted and end. It also sets out how other tenancy related changes from the Act will be implemented e.g. tenancy succession and demotion rules.

This policy explains the circumstances in which an offer in the private rented sector will be used by the Council to end the main housing duty owed to a homeless household.
