The Council has now launched an online application form for both Estate Management consent applications and Pre-Application Enquiries. This facility is similar to that hosted by the Planning Portal for online planning applications. The Council requests that applications are submitted online to enable faster processing. The forms and details may be found on the Apply for permission - Planning and Estate Management page.
18 January 2016 - Annual Monitoring Report 2014-2015 published
The Council has now published its 2014/2015 Annual Monitoring Report, which sets out the planning and development progress in the borough between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015. It includes information on new development which has taken place, the health of the borough's places and people, and how the Council is planning for the future including future development projections for the borough.
22 October 2015 - Consultations open for Northaw Great Wood and Sherrardspark Wood Draft Woodland Management Plans
Draft woodland plans covering the period 2015-2020 are available for public consultation from 23 October to 4 December 2015. If you would like to comment on the plans please go to our consultation portal.
13 October 2014 - New guidance on the care and repair of traditional windows released by English Heritage
New guidance on the care, repair and upgrading of traditional windows is available to download from the English Heritage website - www.english-heritage.org.uk/traditionalwindows
This new guidance covering both timber and metal windows, builds on existing research and is aimed at building professionals and property-owners.

7 October 2014 - Northaw and Cuffley Neighbourhood Plan Area designated
On 7th October 2014, Cabinet designated the Northaw and Cuffley Neighbourhood Area. This is the first stage in the preparation of Northaw and Cuffley Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan.
8 July 2014 - Proposed incinerator in Hatfield - application refused
The application for a Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility on land at New Barnfield has been refused. The Secretary of State has agreed with the Inspector's conclusions and his recommendation.
25 June 2014 - Proposed Neighbourhood Plan Area for Northaw and Cuffley
Northaw and Cuffley Parish Council has applied to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for designation of a Neighbourhood Plan Area under Part 2 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.
The consultation is open from Wednesday 25 June 2014 to Wednesday 13 August 2014.
6 June 2014 - The Commons Local Nature Reserve Draft Management Plan consultation now open
We are consulting on The Commons Local Nature Reserve Draft Management Plan 2014-2024 which outlines the land management proposals for the site. The consultation is open from 6 June to 18 July 2014.
Following the felling of 30 Beech trees, due to severe infection and extensive decay, replanting has now taken place. The 40 young trees planted will now be watered all season to ensure they establish well.
We have completed the tree planting for winter season 2013 - 2014. 330 new trees have been planted across the borough.
A request has been received from Northaw and Cuffley Parish Council to designate the Parish as a Neighbourhood in preparation for the development of the borough's first neighbourhood plan. The council will shortly be consulting on the proposed area to be covered by the Neighbourhood Plan.
Thank you to everyone who submitted information on potential housing sites within the borough by the end of April. This will be fed into the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) review for residential land and sites outside urban areas before it is published in the Autumn.
'Better Business for All' is Hertfordshire regulators' response to reducing regulatory burdens on business and aims to support growth, by building stronger relationships between businesses, local regulators and other interested parties. The 'Better Business for all' web pages are now available at www.hertfordshirelep.com/Better-Regulation.aspx for feedback and comment.
Singlers Marsh Draft Management Plan - consultation now closed
Thank you to all those who submitted comments on the Singlers Marsh Draft Management plan. Consultation on this draft document closed on 12 March 2014 and we received 9 responses which have now been processed and are available to view on our Consultation Portal. We are now considering the feedback we have received and the changes to be made to the document before it is put forward for adoption later this year.
The Secretary of State has written to the Council advising that a decision on the proposed facility will be made on or before Thursday 26th June. In the meantime, the Secretary of State is asking selected parties for their comments by 19th May on:-
i) The Planning Inspector's report into the Hertfordshire County Council Waste Site Allocations Document;
ii) Hertfordshire County Councils intention to retain Southfield School on its new site;
iii) Any relevant parts of the recently published Planning Policy Guidance.
The Secretary of State has emphasised that he is inviting representations on these issues to enable him to come to a fully informed decision and the letter should not be read as any indication as to his attitude to the appeal.
