We are seeking an experienced property professional to join us as Service Manager (Estates and Development).

This senior role will make a significant contribution to the Councils priorities by leading the teams responsible for delivering our property development projects and for managing the Councils current property portfolio.

It is an exciting time to be working for the Council, as we continue our journey of redevelopment and regeneration, including a multi-storey car park, numerous commercial and residential sites, and a community/sports facility. Welwyn Garden City is also celebrating its centenary this year with a number of high-profile events.

The work of the team has attracted funding from various sources including Homes England and the Local Enterprise Partnership, along with attracting large scale developer investment. Work so far has also been shortlisted for several national awards, including the LGC Awards, REVO Awards, The Planning Awards and MJ Awards.

In addition to ensuring the timely delivery of these key property development projects, you will oversee the identification, planning and delivery of new development opportunities. The role requires a proactive approach to the identification of, application and management of grants and other funding opportunities, and will be working closely with Councillors, partners and developers to ensure the Councils ambitions are delivered.

In addition to the management of development opportunities, the role is responsible for leading the team that manages the existing commercial estate, optimising revenue while ensuring that the commercial and community estate remain safe, vibrant, occupied, and meets the needs of our community. This also involves recommendations on the purchase of assets which will help meet Council objectives.

This role provides advice and guidance to the Council on land and property matters, ensures the protection of the Councils estate, and directly supports the creation and implementation of strategy for the service.
