We monitor air quality to protect and inform the community
We currently use diffusion tubes to monitor nitrogen dioxide at 33 strategically placed locations across the borough. They are distributed on a monthly basis and returned to a laboratory for analysis. We also have a BAM1020 PM2.5 automatic roadside air quality analyser located in Hatfield. A Nitrogen Dioxide Analyser has been installed at West View, Hatfield. However, it is not currently operational.

Air pollution alerts
You can sign up to an alert service which sends you a text or email when levels of air pollution in your area increase to a moderate level or above. The alerts are sent out before moderate, high, or very high levels of air pollution are forecast.
It's free to sign up and enables you to find out when air pollution is at elevated levels in the area in which you live, work, or travel. The service is provided by our partners, Ricardo Energy and Environment.
