As part of our continual improvement work on parking conditions we will be consulting with residents and businesses about the parking arrangements in Welwyn Garden City town centre.

Herts County Council (HCC) and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council want to improve the experience for pedestrians in the town centre, particularly by linking the north and south of the town centre.
We are proposing is to reduce the number of cars parking in Stonehills and to reserve the section between Debenhams and Money Exchange to for pedestrians. Traffic flow will be improved by creating one-way sections in some roads.  A 20mph speed zone will encourage drivers to slow down and raised road surfaces will make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road. The documents for the early stages of the public consultation can be found on the HCC website at http://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/wgcconsultation

HCC are now in the process of creating the legal documents required to change the parking restrictions, create one-way roads,  create a pedestrian only area and a 20mph speed restriction.
This is the final stage of the public consultation process, details of the consultation may be viewed by opening the link below.
