Updates about changes to rubbish and recycling collections as a result of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Working closely with our contractors, we have made the difficult decision to suspend garden waste (brown bin) collections from Wednesday 25 March until further notice.
This will allow us to prioritise our most critical collection services, including refuse (black bins), recycling (blue-lidded bins) and clinical waste.
Brown bins that were put out on Wednesday (25 March), unfortunately, will not be collected.
We advise all residents who use the brown bin for their food waste to put it in their black refuse bin for collection.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused, and we ask for your understanding and patience during this challenging time.
Garden waste service payments
We are no longer taking garden waste payments over the phone or in the Campus East office reception.
You can still pay for the service online.
In order to protect our waste collection crews and combat the spread of infection, anyone who feels ill at home (whether diagnosed with COVID-19 or not) should:
- place all waste - including recycling - in their refuse (black) bin
- this should be double-bagged, making sure the bags are securely tied
- wait at least 72 hours before placing it out for collection.
Please do not leave any sacks next to your bin.
Bulky waste collections
We will not be servicing new requests for bulky waste collections.
Bin requests / changes
We will be stopping requests for larger bins and other bin exchanges.
We will continue to deliver bins if you do not have them, for example, if you have just moved in.
Litter picking equipment
The Great British Spring Clean has been postponed and as a result, we will not be issuing any litter picking equipment until further notice.
If you want to do an individual litter pick, please follow the guidance on the keep britain tidy website.
