Household Support Fund (HSF)
The Household Support Fund (HSF) could help you if you are struggling to pay rent and Council Tax, or have small amounts of debt.
You can apply for it in different ways depending on your circumstances.
Who is eligible
If you:
- you are struggling with council rent arrears or leasehold arrears
- are struggling to pay your Council Tax
- have excess income of less than £250 a month
- have low level debt
you may be eligible to apply for a Household Support Fund payment to help.
How to apply
Private tenants and homeowners
If you are a private tenant or homeowner (and you meet the criteria above) you can contact Citizens Advice to ask about the Household Support Fund payment.
Council tenants
If you are a council tenant in Welwyn Hatfield (and you meet the criteria above) you can apply to the council for a Household Support Fund payment.
To apply:
- Email us at housingincome@welhat.gov.uk. make sure you include your name, address and contact details and mention that you want to apply for the Household Support Fund (HSF).
- Alternatively, you can call us on 01707 357 000 and ask to speak to your Income Officer about the Household Support Fund (HSF)
- We may ask for proof of financials via a bank statement
Council flat leaseholders
If you are a council flat leaseholder in Welwyn Hatfield (and you meet the criteria above) you can apply to the council for a Household Support Fund payment.
To apply:
- email us at homeownershipaccounts@welhat.gov.uk.
- make sure you give us your name and contact details and mention that you want to apply for the Household Support Fund (HSF)
