People in detention or prison Council Tax exemption
If someone is in detention but hasn't yet moved out of their home for good they aren't counted for Council Tax.
People in detention are:

convicted
-
on remand
-
held awaiting deportation
-
held under the Mental Health Act.
It does not include:
-
someone who is in police custody waiting to be remanded
-
someone who is in prison for not paying of their Council Tax or a fine.
If there is another adult over 18 living in the home they may be able to get a Council Tax discount.
If everyone from the home has been detained, the property is exempt from Council Tax.
