From Monday 2 November, together with our new Partner, Urbaser, we will be providing households with a weekly separate food waste collection.
We know that about 30% of residents' refuse bin is made up of food waste and is disposed of. Introducing separate food waste collection will allow us to make use of your food waste, turning it into energy and fertilizer.
You should now have received your new green 23 litre kerbside food caddy. If you haven't received your caddy please Contact us.
Please keep your caddy safe until the new service starts from 2 November.
The video below shows how your food waste will be turned into renewable energy.
How often will the food waste caddy be collected?
The new food waste collection service is a weekly collection. Please present your food caddy on your usual collection day by 6.30am. All food waste must be in your green caddy with the lid closed. The lid is lockable, so you don't need to worry about spillages or attracting pests.
What goes in the food caddy?
You can use your caddy to for all raw and cooked food waste, including pet food, bones and tea bags.
