Hollybush South
In this section
A consultation for parking in Hollybush South began in December 2024.
The area will only cover the southern section of the Ward including:
- Boundary Lane
- Howlands (300 to 604 only)
- Mount Way
- Walnut Grove
We held a survey asking for your views on the current parking in your area as well as ascertaining if there are any parking issues and solutions you are/are not in favour of. At this stage, no decisions have been made on parking restrictions.
As part of the process consideration is given to double yellow lines on junctions to improve junction vision underpinning the Highway Code, as well as verge and footway prohibition to improve the streetscene and access for pedestrians.
Online survey
The survey was open until Sunday 9 February 2025.
Suggested Parking Restrictions - June/July 2025
266 out of 1973 properties (13.5%) from within the consultation area have responded to the survey.
At this stage, no decision has been agreed on parking restrictions, the below suggestions are based upon the data provided in the survey where residents expressed a level of concern over parking issues. We do require residents feedback at this stage in order to determine the way forward.
Double yellow lines
10 metres of lines will be considered for introduction at all junctions where not already in existence or where they may be required due to safety or access issues.
Verge and Footway Prohibition Order (VFPO)
Prohibiting parking on public verges and footways is being considered in the below roads where the carriageway is wide enough to allow parking and this covers vehicle crossovers on the public highway land that are not owned by a property. This is being suggested in two roads only:
Hollybush Lane from the junction of Homestead Lane to the junction of Howlands
Howlands from Chequers to the Beehive Lane junction.
Advisory Disabled bays
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council do not provide disabled bay markings. Please contact Hertfordshire County Council to apply for a disabled parking bay outside your home on the public highway.
Next steps
After feedback has been received, we will consider making any amendments to the above and will send a further letter outlining the next steps in Autumn 2025.
Further updates will also be available on this webpage.
