There is a £35 annual charge for brown bin collections in Welwyn Hatfield.

If you haven't signed up before, please request a garden waste collection.

Alternatively, our payment lines will open on 4 February to set up a Direct Debit or make a one off payment for the 2020/21 service.

If you subscribed to the service last year (2019/20), please wait until you receive an email or letter from us as it contains a Customer Account Number that is unique to you. If you haven't received this information by Monday 18 February, please contact us.

Confirming your payment

Once you have paid or set up your Direct Debit, you will receive an email or letter notification confirming your payment. You will also receive a confirmation letter with stickers to put on your brown bin(s).

Your property will be added to our database so that collection crews will know which bins to empty.

Existing Direct Debits

You do not need to set up another Direct Debit if you requested a garden waste subscription last year and selected to pay by Direct Debit.

Residents who set up a Direct Debit last year will have their next payment taken in March as the subscription period runs April 2019 to March 2020. This ensures you will receive collections for the full 12 months.

We will contact you to advise you of your payment date.

Cancelling your Direct Debit

You have the right to cancel your direct debit under the direct debit guarantee.

Please cancel your direct debit through your bank. We are unable to cancel your direct debit for you.

Changing the date of your Direct Debit

You can change the date that your payment is taken to the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of the month.

Please contact us if you need to change your payment date.

Failed Direct Debit payments

We will not attempt to take Direct Debit your payment if it fails at the first attempt. If your payment does fail, your Direct Debit will be cancelled.

If your Direct Debit payment fails and you would like to continue receiving the service, please request a new garden waste collection.
