The above proposals were considered at Cabinet Planning and Parking Panel on Tuesday 18th February 2025, 7.30 pm
The points raised in objections were openly placed in the report presented to the cross party panel and duly considered.
A decision was made to proceed with the parking restrictions, albeit each location below to only have two enforceable electric vehicle charging bay points, the rest of the points being advisory for the time being. The electric vehicle charge points have been installed following a government financial grant in readiness for a large uptake of electric vehicles.
Any additional restrictions would be further notified in later years depending on excess demand for charging points.
The locations:
- Aldbury Grove Car Park
- Birchwood Leisure Centre Car Park
- King George V Playing Fields Car Park
- Longmead Car Park (Woolmer Green)
- Moneyhole Car Park
- Russett House Car Park
- Thundridge Close Car Park
Monday to Sunday 8am to 6pm, 4 hours maximum charge with no return to electric charging bays within 4 hours.
The two bay restrictions will come into effect on Monday 12 May 2025, with signs and lines due to be installed in the next 5 weeks. Enforcement officers will visit on an ad-hoc basis to ensure only electric vehicles are connected to the two enforceable points to charge.
Further details relating to the charging point provider can be found online.
