Written summary
7.1 When we have finished investigating a hazard, we will give the resident a written summary that clearly explains:
What was found
- Was it a significant or emergency hazard?
- What exactly is the hazard?
If action is needed
- What the council will do
- When we aim to start and finish the work
If no action is needed
- Say that no action is required under the law
- Explain why
How to contact the landlord
7.2 The actions we may need to take include:
- Doing more investigations
- Carrying out safety repairs
- Taking steps to prevent the problem from happening again
- Offering temporary accommodation if the home cannot be made safe.
7.3 We will send the summary within three working days. It will be clear, respectful, and helpful.
7.4 If all the work to fix a significant or emergency hazard is finished within 3 working days, we do not need to send a written summary — but we will let you know the work is done.
