Dog waste bins
It is an offence for any person in charge of a dog to allow it to foul in a public place and not clean it up (The Dog (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 and The Clean Neighbourhood Environment Act 2005). It is no defence to claim ignorance of the dog's actions.
We may issue a fine (Fixed Penalty Notice) to those who do not clean up after their dog in public places.
There are many dedicated dog waste bins around the borough. We empty them every week.
Report an issue with a dog waste bin
We need to know:
- the location of the bin
- what the problem is
You will have the option to upload photos of the problem.
Request a new dog waste bin
To request new dog waste bins in a public area, we need to know the location of where you would like the new bin installed.
Our Environment Team will carry out a site visit to assess if a bin is required to improve the cleanliness of the street.
If your request is approved, a new bin will usually be installed within 3 months.
