3.1The Council is committed to fulfilling our obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004, and accordingly the aims of this policy are:

To raise awareness of the Council’s obligations and the rights of requesters under the referenced legislation above.
To process all requests promptly and courteously.
To promote a culture of transparency and accountability.
To build public trust and confidence.
To ensure public debate can be better informed, more productive, and residents can better participate in their local democracy and community.
To ensure full compliance with relevant Codes of Practice referenced on the first page of this policy.
