Induction
6.1 The induction will be by the placement coordinator. On the students first day they will be introduced to the coordinator, given a tour of the building and given a plan for the week, including the team(s) they will be working with.
6.2 Discuss the duties and tasks that the student will undertake, observe or take part in during their placement and the learning goals identified (where appropriate) using the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council Work Experience Placement Plan (see appendix 2)
6.3 Cover the standards of behaviour and conduct that are expected in the workplace, and any specific rules relating to the service area in which the student will be working.
6.4 The Project coordinator will discuss the Fire and Evacuation Procedures and will tell the student who the first aiders are and how they can contact them.
6.5 Discuss and explain the terms of the Work Experience Agreement, including the confidentiality clause (see appendix 4) and ask the student to sign a copy.
6.6 Clarify the rules around mobile phone usage.
6.7 Tell the student to contact the placement coordinator at least one hour before the agreed starting time, should they be unable to attend on any particular day.
